Why I Do This

I’ve done a lot of things in my career. I’ve won awards, earned patents, started companies and done pioneering work in a number of industries.

I’ve also failed — a lot. I’m very stubborn and that has not served me well at times. But it’s also how I have figured out hard technology problems. I keep trying until something gives. The downside is that often the something that gives is me.

For 981 days now I have been trying to dismantle QAnon. I started on August 2nd, 2020 when I found out it was using “alternate reality game” techniques that I helped invent two decades ago.

This thread is from five days after I started this work.

I was slightly off about the timing.

I also identified Michael T. Flynn as someone “leaning into his role as demigod and is going to take an active role in directing these people.”

I was right.

The 976 days since has been the most brutal, terrifying and important work of my life. Despite the outlandish lies a large network of chaos agents and internet terrorists spread about me, I do this work as a father, a husband and an American. That’s it.

I see Mike Flynn, his family and his cult as a lethal threat to my my kids, my grandkids and my country. That’s the only reason I do it. I currently make about 10% of what I could in the “real world” in Substack subscriptions so the allegation I’m doing it for money is frankly ridiculous.

Incredibly, as I was writing the preceding paragraph, Joe Flynn tweeted this.

Not quite, Joe, but I know you’re trying real hard.

Joe is an avid reader of my Substack and has sent waves of psychopathic trolls to “like” and reply to things with obscene, offensive and defamatory content. But above he’s referring to a recent operation to smear me. He’s taking credit for it and taunting me about it.

The reason I am the target of a nearly comical amount of defamatory and abusive harassment is that when I’m not silenced I’m effective — and I’m way ahead of the story that powerful people don’t want out.

Forgive me for a moment of celebration but after being banned from Twitter for a year the first thing I did was write a long thread off the top of my head detailing the last decade of Mike Flynn’s treason. When the thread started to get popular, I set a goal to get it to a million views. It took three months but we did it. 🥳

As I told Joe Flynn in the tweet that triggered him, I will “get a life” when Mike Flynn is in prison. Until then, the entire Flynn family is a lethal national security threat.

The fastest way to reduce the Putin-backed insurgent threat in the United States is to decapitate its leadership. At the top of that leadership is Mike Flynn.

The fastest way to get Mike Flynn off the street is to reactivate, recall and court martial him. The Secretaries of Army and Defense need to stop hiding from their Flynn problem, which extends to Charles Flynn, who helped delay the National Guard response to the insurrection and currently leads 90,000 troops at US Army Pacific.
