Colonia Dignidad: “Network State” in Chile

What happens when you combine Nazism, sadism, and Christian doomsday ideology?

From 1970 to 1973, Nixon’s intelligence agencies ran covert operations to undermine the Chilean government under the premise of ridding South America of communism, and actively assisted in Augusto Pinochet’s military coup of Salvador Allende’s government.

Allende was a committed Socialist who was also in favor of liberal democracy as a form of government. Nevertheless, he was branded a “dangerous communist” and toppled, in one of the most violent coups in modern history, leading to government by military junta, and 17 years of brutal dictatorship.

For 12 years after his coup, Pinochet’s secret police, DINA, worked with other dictatorships in South America on a covert operation called Operation Condor, with the goal of “eliminating Marxist subversion.” It was responsible for the extrajudicial murders of at least 50,000 people, with another 400,000 imprisoned. The operation was also funded and assisted by the intelligence community of the United States, all in the name of Cold War anti-communism.

One of Pinochet’s primary weapons of oppression was disappearing people, to eliminate opposition and raise terror in the minds of any resistance. Among the places Pinochet sent his opponents was Colonia Dignidad, recently made more well-known through a movie and documentary about the atrocities that went on there.

Colonia Dignidad started after WWII as an isolated German agricultural commune in Chile, which had also been a haven for Nazis escaping prosecution. In 1961, a Nazi preacher named Paul Schäfer arrived and transformed it into his personal pedophile cult. Schäfer taught the Christian “wisdom” of racist “divine healing” fraud William Branham, who he had met in Germany and befriended in the 1950s. Branham was one of the leaders of the Pentacostal revival and charismatic movement after WWII and helped mass murderer Jim Jones get his ministry started, among many others.

When Pinochet’s junta assumed power, Schäfer offered his services as a black site torture chamber. It is unknown how many died there but the number is in the hundreds. While I won’t describe what went on in detail, it was, like the Nazi Reich which inspired it, remarkable in its pure, unadulterated sadism.

For nearly 30 years, a man who clearly had the characteristics of the Dark Tetrad, narcissism, Machiavellianism, psychopathy and sadism, combined with pedophilia, was able to satisfy every deviant desire by cooperating with the state to create a sanctioned fiefdom in which he made all the rules and was not interfered with in exchange for his torture and execution services.

One of the goals of the Thiel-Musk American National Socialist ideology “Dark Enlightenment” is to create a new model of governance called the “network state” which is effectively a vehicle for billionaires to create their own fiefdoms with any rules they want. In their model, there is nothing preventing a new Colonia Dignidad from being created. Given the billionaire tendency towards the Dark Tetrad and the fact that numerous people in Trump’s orbit have connections to human trafficking and pedophilia, including Trump, it’s hard to fathom what they might invent.

The abduction of Kilmar Abrego Garcia and hundreds of other immigrants, 90% of whom did not have criminal records, to a foreign concentration camp, against court orders, is a fundamental test of the Constitution, our collective morality, and our willingness to confront evil itself.

It is important to remember that we are no longer in a theoretical scenario. The worst case has arrived and the only question is how bad it has to get before we take extraordinary measures. We must look hard at history, including our own, to see that we’ve reached the point where systematic, state-sponsored violence and murder is a certainty unless we find a way to stop this regime.
