The problem is I don't think anybody has any faith that any of these things let alone one of them is going to happen!

As you say, the president is getting terrible advice. Clearly the case before the debate! Malcolm Nance suggested starting small groups of demonstrators. Five seemingly in an attempt to make a bite-sized showing of support for democracy over autocracy. It's crazy that there's no sort of national leadership on mass demonstrations. This should have been the case when McConnell first brazenly denied a democratic selection for the court. We should have been out in the hundreds of thousands. When rovey weighed died we should . When the Dobbs decision was handed down, we should have been in the streets by the hundreds of thousands. I'm afraid that social media and the phone and as you say confusion and chaos has loved us into complete inaction. My friends agree with me but they think I'm nuts. They have no fucking idea! I'm I'm probably mistakenly waiting till my retirement in a couple of years to devote myself full-time to some sort of public service if not grassroots actions etc etc. What do I do besides telling everybody I know the things I know? That's where the small groups of five seem to make sense. I sure as hell can grab five buddies and stand in front of Miami city hall. Maybe call the local newspaper. If everybody in your group, lucid, Heather Cox Richardson's group, byline Heidi Cuda's made a small group of five and got out there on the same day that would be an event!

You’ve laid it out pretty clear, Jim. Thank you.

161 years ago, this weekend, a seemingly invincible army of traitorous confederates, led by Gen. Lee, began a battle at Gettysburg PA. There was NO guarantee that he could be prevented from taking the next step to take Washington DC, and thus, defeat the Union.

There is no guarantee that, in our November election, the traitorous confederates (version 2.0) will be defeated, and Biden is successfully re-inaugurated

This is how war is. Gut-wrenching uncertainty. And an absolute necessity for each of us to find our place to defend democracy
