The Rupture Has Arrived: 7 Signs We Are No Longer a Democracy
There is very little reason to believe America is still a constitutional republic.
The U.S. government is no longer following the oath every federal employee takes—to support and defend the Constitution. It is a rogue state operating as a proxy for a malignant narcissist in collapse. It is impossible to see any of the latest moves by the federal government as following a constitutional order or the rule of law. It is simply false to argue that there is legal, moral or logical justification for anything they’re doing. In case after case, the behavior is based on a false, projected pretext, it is designed to consolidate power illegally, and none of it is designed to benefit average Americans.
Here are seven examples from the last 48 hours or so, of the final stage of governmental decompensation—which happens when the psyche of the leader is fused to the psychology of his subordinates and falls into the final stage of narcissistic collapse. The entire government and supporting media infrastructure collapses along with him—in mimetic synchrony. Here is what each of these seven signs have in common:
Counterfactual justification — Every action rests on a false or inverted premise.
Institutional bypass — Checks and balances overridden.
Public spectacle — Designed for maximum impact, rather than factual content.
Mimetic synchrony — Actions, propaganda, and base emotions aligned in real time.
Acceleration — Escalations increasing as the leader’s psyche destabilizes.
1. Donald Owns Justice — Bondi/Martin Prosecutions
Pam Bondi, who laughably testified to Congress that she was going to “end weaponization of the Department of Justice” created a new category at DOJ, a “special prosecutor,” to investigate NY AG Letitia James and Senator Adam Schiff for “mortgage fraud” and opened grand juries in multiple states.
Bondi is also investigating James for “civil rights violations” in NY State civil suits against Trump and the NRA.
The lawyer she authorized for this role, Ed Martin, has the distinction of being the only person crazy enough to be rejected by this GOP Congress. Martin, as I have written, is a QAnon believer, a Christian supremacist, a white nationalist, a J6 organizer, and the keeper of the flame for anti-feminist, anti-abortion crusader Phyllis Schlafly.
Every part of this, from the announcement on state TV, to the novel legal role of “special prosecutor,” to the blatant abdication of norms about not publicizing investigations at DOJ is unconstitutional.
DOJ is not functioning as a Justice Department, it is the legal hit squad of Donald Trump. This is a fundamental rupture in the constitutional order and rule of law. This simply does not happen in a democracy.
2. Federal Coup of Washington, D.C. — Big Balls Re-enters the Chat
Last week, out of the blue, there was a massive uprising in MAGA about an alleged carjacking incident involving minors in Washington D.C., and Edward Coristine, a neo-Nazi teenage cybercriminal nicknamed “Big Balls“ who worked for DOGE, was widely promoted by Elon Musk and Fox, and now works at the actual State Department. To say this story is not believable wildly understates it. Nothing about this adds up.
Nevertheless, Trump used this stunt to launch a counterfactual account of rampant crime in DC when the truth is that the drop in DC crime in recent years has been historic according to the DOJ itself, at least when it was still functioning. DC is nowhere near one of the most dangerous cities in the world.
WASHINGTON - Total violent crime for 2024 in the District of Columbia is down 35% from 2023 and is the lowest it has been in over 30 years, according to data collected by the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and announced by United States Attorney Matthew M. Graves. A breakdown of the data is available here.
In addition to the overall violent crime reduction, homicides are down 32%; robberies are down 39%; armed carjackings are down 53%; assaults with a dangerous weapon are down 27% when compared with 2023 levels, with the District reporting the fewest assaults with dangerous weapons and burglaries in over 30 years.
Note that the Secretary of Defense—racist, rapist Christian supremacist Pete Hegseth—posted Trump’s “Truth.” Trump has promised to use both the National Guard and ICE to “essentially stop violent crime.”
This is an utterly corrupt, blatantly manufactured coup of DC and its citizens’ rights by a man, and a federal government, that has lost any semblance of decency, truth, or rule of law; it is, simply, an invasion.
3. FBI Hunting Texas Lawmakers
FBI Director Kash Patel, who sued me in Nevada, is executing a full-scale purge of the FBI of anyone who does not comply with MAGA ideology, or was in any way connected to prosecutions of Trump or J6 insurrectionists, or simply has ties or friendships with anyone on Trump’s enemies list. Here is a letter to a Marine combat veteran whose wife died of cancer last month at the age of 49, and has an impeccable record at FBI.
This kind of open cruelty to its own employees by the government is intentional and a perfect mirror of Trump’s psyche. It is also a fatal blow to any sense of legitimacy. The FBI is, as predicted, being turned into a combination of the Stasi and Hoover’s COINTELPRO.
But perhaps the signal flare that it’s officially no longer America’s FBI, it’s Trump’s attack dog instead, is the fact that after Texas Senator John Cornyn “asked for help” finding Democratic state representatives who had left the state to prevent Texas from gerrymandering five new seats for the GOP, Patel’s FBI agreed to hunt them down.
This is deeply unconstitutional and violates every basic concept of federalism, which is that the government does not interfere in states’ affairs except when necessary and allowed by law. There are no federal crimes even being discussed. Quorum-breaking is lawful protest practiced many times by both parties.
This is a clear, unambiguous abuse of federal law enforcement to affect the mid-term elections by interfering in state business with no authorization or justification even being attempted. The FBI is broken, I fear beyond repair. It’s just a kinetic mirror for Trump’s rage.
4. Propaganda Arm in Synchrony — No Quiet Parts
In response to the Texas Democrats exercising their lawful rights to protest the GOP’s corrupt attempt to steal control of the House by gerrymandering Texas districts in mid-cycle, insufferable Fox host Jesse Watters said this, right out loud:
This party is delirious, and the Republican party has to take full advantage at this point. We have to kick the illegals out of the country, we have to kick them out of the census, and we have to gerrymander to the tilt. Why? Because the Democratic Party cannot be trusted to be the opposition party anymore. They have to have a permanent minority. It used to be like, you know what, they wanted to raise taxes, we wanted to cut them. We were isolationists, they were a little bit out there. It's not like that anymore. This party's dangerous.
This isn’t some neo-Nazi chat room, it is the main artery of propaganda into the GOP mainstream, and it is behaving precisely as designed—as a mirror into Trump’s emotional state. Watters is in mimetic synchrony with Trump, which he is in turn modeling to millions of others. This is an open, direct call to authoritarian one party rule. There are no quiet parts.
To borrow from Maya Angelou: They keep telling us who they are, and the sooner we believe them the better.
5. Science, Mirrored — RFK Jr.’s mRNA Rollback
“MAHA” head RFK Jr., despite his promises not to “take away vaccines,” made one of the most horrific and deadly announcements yet by this regime by canceling 22 mRNA vaccine projects by denying them more than $500 million in federal funding. mRNA vaccines have saved millions of people, and it’s being shut down by a guy who said heroin helped him get through college, has a worm in his brain, and takes a quack supplement that turned him blue.

mRNA research was showing promise in combating numerous diseases, including cancer, and the bird flu—which is knocking on our door. As I said when he was nominated, the unthinkable is before us.
This decision will lead to untold millions of deaths, because Donald Trump and RFK Jr. think this is going to lead to a “stronger population.” It’s mass eugenics, a war on humanity. When the part of the government that’s supposed to make you healthy is literally trying to kill millions of Americans, the government no longer functions in the way it was intended. It has ruptured.
6. Civil–Military Synchrony — Pete Hegseth
Pete Hegseth is in multiple, overlapping cults. He is a violent, dangerous moron who has managed to fail his way into controlling the most lethal force ever created by mankind, the U.S. Armed Forces. By posting Trump’s “Truth” about taking over DC, he validated, once again, the illegal use of military force in an American city. As a resident of Los Angeles, I know what it’s like.
But Hegseth is not just going along with Trump’s program, he is openly trying to rewind America to before the Civil War—through the Defense Department. He says he wants to “recognize” not “erase” the Confederacy by restoring monuments and forcing bases back to their Confederate naming. And he is breaking every imaginable notion of separation of church and state by bringing prayer into the Pentagon, and promoting Doug Wilson, one of the most vile, illiberal Christian supremacist cult leaders on Earth.

I wrote about Wilson when it came to my attention that he was preaching against the “sin of empathy.” Wilson says empathy is Satanic.
But Wilson also defends slavery, and wants to take away women’s right to vote. In the video Hegseth shared, Wilson openly talks about America as a dominionist Christian nation where white men rule in a religious dictatorship.
This is a complete abdication of Hegseth’s oath to the Constitution, a disgusting validation of views that have been rightly seen by society as Cro-Magnon for more than a century, and another sign that the government has lost its way entirely.
7. ICE Paramilitary Synchrony
Finally, the DHS has become desperate to find anyone to join ICE as a violent paramilitary thug in Trump’s private army. These are all official tweets from the ICE account portraying this not as immigration enforcement but as a physical offshoot of the leader‘s racism and bloodlust.
First, ICE is not a military. Donald Trump has no official role over it. He is not “Commander-In-Chief of the ICE Internal Paramilitary Forces.” His salute is a rupture in the constitutional order, and rule of law, representing a complete capture of the department to be his personal police force.
The behavior of ICE is already wildly unprofessional, but now they tout loudly that there is no age limit and no degree required to join. It’s a cattle call for anyone who wants to get the excitement of separating families and destroying lives.
Recently, former Superman Dean Cain publicly announced he wanted to join ICE—so they created a meme just for the occasion.
This is not a recognizable modern democracy. This is a fascist police state that just allocated $200 billion to spend to make sure it can’t be stopped.
The state has collapsed along with the leader. We are here.
Conclusion
When a narcissist collapses, it’s messy. It has no particular start date or end date, and may ebb and flow over time. But the one thing it always does is keep getting worse until it has no more power to act out.
Trump has no escape from his Epstein problems, the issue which really accelerated his collapse. Without some kind of relief from the searing rage and ego injury he is suffering, we will all spiral down with him as he gasps for air.
Strategically, or cynically, depending on your point of view, it may bring some attention to our shared dilemma if he declares martial law in DC on Monday. Trump already set up the legal framework to do it, and it should throw up a flare to any remaining part of the population that may not be aware of the stakes at this point.
Without Congress or SCOTUS in session, there is no theoretical way to put a check or a balance on this president—not that either of them would. Every component of the federal government is behaving as a mirror of the leader. There is no duty being done, there is only fealty.
The rupture has arrived. Be prepared.

Well, if there's any silver lining in this nightmare, is that it has to get worse before it can HOPEFULLY get better...how ever long that will take.
For example, like getting Project 2025 over with now, as opposed to simply kicking the can down the road if Kamala was in the White House now.
We were going to get this GOP fascist nightmare regardless. It has been building towards this for 40 years, so as much as this whole this blows, I'd rather be addressing it now instead of these sociopaths having another 4-8 years to further cook up their dystopian Project 2029 or Project 33.
So, while nobody wants us to cease being a Constitutional Republic, we were going to lose our Democracy sooner or later. There was never a version of this hellscape where it would be 100% intact. So better for us to get here sooner rather than later, so we can get to work.
In a way, the speed at which these traitors have performed this coup may be beneficial, so far as it may run out of steam.
I mean, even with all the consolidation of power and horrors we have seen, this regime is falling apart in many ways, and Trump is shedding support, even amongst some of the MAGA base.
So I am hoping the forming cracks can be exploited opportunities for resistance...which is growing. Slow I know, but as Ruth Ben-Ghiat says often, and I'm paraphrasing, "no effective resistance movement has been built in eight months."
So, while times are super dire, we have to understand that it takes time. We have been so overwhelmed and shell-shocked by all this, especially the Democratic leadership, which has been expectedly flacid. Thankfully the rising stars have been leading the charge of late, especially in the Texas legislator.
So we have to be kind to ourselves to a point. This is unprecedented, not only in America, but of authoritarian take-overs. The Nazis aside, most of these coups generally take a while to get their shit together...Hungary, Turkey, etc. took a lot longer than our authoritarian drift...or slide.
However, it we can't fight back the gerrymandering war that's escalating and by a miracle actually have real mid-terms, then I don't know what our path forward will be.
Whatever our resistance ends up being, it's going to take millions of people waking up, and that probably will take some extremes...Martial Law, as mentioned in this piece, and/or individual suffering, most notably economic, in the coming months. Few things motivate like financial pain and hunger.
I refuse to ever give up hope that in the long run, however long it takes, we won't be able to turn the ship around...and not only defeat this regime, but also the Thiel/Musk/Yarvin/Vance Technate coup in the shadows, which is even more dangerous.
We have our work cut out for us that's for sure. But in that hopeful victorious scenario, where we have a 2nd pseudo-reconstruction to not only fix this mess, but to BUILD BACK BETTER than ever, to ensure nothing like this EVER happens again, we have to essentially squash the GOP as a viable party. They BLEW IT.
After what they've done, and continue to do, any semblance of decency and legitimacy is gone forever and the GOP must not be allowed to exist in its current form. They should go the way of the Whigs. They should go down in history as a cautionary tale. A wrong turn to be a teachable moment for all future generations.
And the MAGA branch can never get anywhere near government again. If the old school, normal Republicans of yester-year want to regain control and form a new SANE party, they have some serious work to do. And Musk's party sure isn't the answer either. Fuck him forever.
But to get us to a stage where we can essentially abolish the GOP, if it's even possible, I believe it has to get MUCH, MUCH worse on many fronts for enough people to abandon them for good. For a mass exodus to leave the party, we need a major political awakening amongst the most unreachable constituents.
People need to get shaken out of their decades-long Stockholm Syndrome relationship with the GOP...especially MAGA, which will be even harder. I suspect many of them are lost causes though. No matter how dystopian life gets for them in their Red states, they won't abandon their cult leader. And JD will NEVER captivate the base. Nobody can. Trump is a once-in-a-lifetime figure, and there isn't anyone on the Right who can capture Republicans like he did. At least I hope...
For us...
It will take one hell of a rebrand for the Democrats and a very powerful populist leader to captive the nation. We need an FDR-level movement to truly remake America into the nation we were promised by the Founders.
I fear it will take a generation at least to get us out if this nightmare. I believe it is possible. I just hope I see it in my lifetime.
You can almost hear the echoes of military boots marching in the streets. Trump and his right wing fanatics are eager to inundate major cities with troops, to show the public that dissent won't be tolerated. It's coming, and it's coming fast.
I think the implication of martial law will be expedited by the Pedophile in Chief, in a desperate attempt to take the Epstein cover up out of the spotlight.
The civil war in America never really ended. For years the racists worked behind the scenes cloaked in secrecy, but now they have slithered out from under their rocks, to bask in the sanctioned sunlight provided by the current Republican regime.
It will take a concentrated effort by citizens of all colours to defeat these tyrants, and end their sophisticated scheme to subject the American people to servitude. The end game of this corrupt cabal goes much deeper than the persecution of minorities. The billionaire puppet masters, like Karp and Thiel of Palantir, won't be content until the poor are subdued by fear or even death. The common desire to remove Trump's grifting ass from power is justified, but J.D. Vance will be worse, as he is fully owned by Thiel, the Heritage Foundation and the Federalist Society. This malignant cancer threatening to destroy democracy, has metastasized to every government agency, under the blueprint of Project 2025.
The only cure is a complete purge of the perpetrators. The only force powerful enough to eradicate the disease threatening to negate the Constitution, is the collective will of the people. We can either defend liberty with all our hearts, or allow ourselves to be enslaved.
