It seems to me that whilst democracy is definitely the best system for those that live within it, it is ill equipped to deal with the very long term goals of Russia or China. I think every new President brings with them a naivety in this regard. They think they’ll do better than the last lot etc etc.

After George Floyd died I remember hearing about ‘The Talk’ many black parents find it necessary to have with their children. I wonder if a similar talk should not be given to each hopeful new president.

Now listen here Mr/Mrs new President, and listen good, when dealing with other nations, particularly Russia and China, it is essential to always bear in mind that ……..

I do realise this would not work with the current president. But in future I reckon Jim should be appointed as Chief Talk Giver. He'd sort them out!

There are several problems with capitalism: 1) the need for short-term profits, 2) control by an oligarchic CEO and board members and 3) no (or little - shareholders don't often count unless they are major shareholders) oversight by the public or even the employees involved in the enterprise. Is it any wonder that these attitudes of the owner or owners know best are applied by those in power in the public sector?

Definitely, USA is a young country: arrogant, self-interested and ignorant. There is a lot of intelligence but little wisdom. Because they operate from the same old assumptions and are reluctant to change them, they are easily outsmarted and outwitted by those countries who are not stuck in a mental rut. This makes the USA malleable and easy to manipulate.

If only the USA could learn to appreciate other cultures instead of fight them! (This is what JFK wanted and probably a large reason he was killed. He wanted to collaborate rather than destroy and emerge victorious over "communism".

Chinese people have a culture and tradition of valuing learning that has been continuous for thousands of years. They have the long view. They have patience. They have wisdom. They oversee capitalism in their society so they prevent what has happened in the USA with rise of plutocracy and kakistocracy.

The Russians and Israel have a lot in common. Neither will be secure until they control those around them. Russia from a historical perspective and Israel because they will not coexist.

When will USA learn that other countries can't be controlled or relied upon? They are the least reliable but they remain clueless.

Mike Flynn and the rabid "anti-communists" are part of a movement in the USA that is the most dangerous to Americans (not the outside world). Perhaps it is based on hatred for the indigenous cultures that share. Regardless, the modern version included a plot to overthrow the White House ("The Plot to Overthrow the White House by Jules Archer) in the 1930s and then there was Roy Cohn (Trump's mentor) and Senator McCarthy.

What worries me about Mike Flynn and his anti-communism is: Are the tariffs on China going to be used to justify a war with China? Are the resulting high prices going to be used to spin an Anti-China campaign and accuse China of going to war on America so America can justify war on China? Is this resentment going to be added to "Kung-flu"?

There is no line between waking reality and paranoia now.
