Perestroika Deception: How Putin Conned the Anti-Communists
Mike Flynn thought Russia and America would team up against China and Iran. Not so much.
On Monday, Russian state propagandist Vladimir Solovyev, reacting to Donald Trump’s Truth Social post which rearranged American military holidays to make May 8th “Victory Day in World War II,” scoffed:
“How did his WWII end on May 8th? What happened after that? Why did they use nuclear weapons? Our part of the world, the global majority, retained its mental health.”
Solovyev boasted that Putin will host the heads of state of Slovakia and Serbia for Russia’s Victory Day on May 8th, as well as the communist nations of North Korea and China—and openly threatened Europe with invasion in conjunction with Putin’s communist partners:
“They think we have a problem with our mobilization resources. There are 150 million of us, but almost 1 billion of them. What if the People’s Republic of China joins us? … So we’ll see how events will develop in the future. We’ll be watching it very carefully. As for Europe, it’s not like it would be our first time to march across Europe. Our every generation has had this pastime.”

In 1995, Soviet KGB defector Anatoliy Golytsin published “The Perestroika Deception” which warned that Gorbachev’s project of “glasnost” (openness) and “perestroika” (restructuring) had been a ruse to continue the project of the Communist Party under a new brand. He had been a CIA adviser during the Reagan administration and repeatedly sounded the alarm that Gorbachev’s strategy had been pre-planned and the West was falling right into his hands.
The book is largely a series of communications with Reagan and Bush’s CIA. Golytsin wrote this memo in 1991, warning that “strategic disinformation,” and American intelligence’s lack of understanding it, was “an instrument of deception designed to ‘re-shoe’ the West.”
Moreover, he predicted the rise of China and the future cooperation between Russia and its communist neighbor to subvert the United States, and cited the weakening of the CIA as a major strategic win, 36 years ago.
While Golytsin overestimated Marxist communism as the future ideology of Russia, he did understand the framework that Putin, and his “philosopher” Aleksandr Dugin would later employ, the KGB strategy of reflexive control through the use of dialectics.
Dialectics, in simplest form, involves a thesis, an antithesis, and a synthesis of the two. According to Golytsin, Gorbachev was presenting a “middle ground” between the “Stalinist regime” and those who completely reject it in order to continue the communist project.
Vladimir Putin, as has been extensively reported, was a KGB agent before rising to the head of the successor FSB in the 1990s. While he was a member of the Communist Party by definition, he was also very attracted to the trappings of the West. His recent idolizing of the Soviet Union and Stalin is not about Marx, it’s about the return of Russian imperialism—“Orthodoxy, Autocracy, Nationality.”

What Putin and Dugin have done is fashion a dialectic that allows them to ally with both communist nations like North Korea and China, and far right, neo-Nazi “anti-communist” movements in Western countries like the United States (GOP/MAGA) and Germany (AfD). In this way, Putinism synthesizes communism and fascism.
To zero in on America, and how this idea ended up conning the far right into cooperating with it, I wrote this last year about Mike Flynn, and his motivations for being a traitor to the United States:
Going back to his roots, Flynn and his partners have convinced themselves that they are destined to save the world from both communism and Islam, that they are the Crusaders who will remake the world. Part of this strategy is to align the US with Russia against China.
Erik Prince, Mike Flynn, Steve Bannon and Peter Thiel all rationalize that the greatest geopolitical threat to the world is “communist China” and spread paranoia about a “communist” infiltration of the US. They see helping Putin succeed in Europe as part of grand master plan to split Russia off from its alliance with China to join forces with the US.
When Mike Flynn went to Russian military intelligence headquarters in Moscow in 2013, he came back convinced that Russia was going to help save the world from the twin evils of Islam and communism. Flynn’s 2016 book “Field of Fight” made the argument that Russia would help win the war against radical Islam and we should ally with Putin instead of considering him an enemy. Now Flynn is actively lobbying to come back as National Security Advisor, despite also promoting Stephen Miller for the role.
“If called upon, I’ll protect our nation’s security.”

But Flynn has said numerous times that his primary allegiance to Putin is that he believes America can convince the Russian dictator to help us defeat China. Last year Flynn complained:
“the Biden administration has pushed Russia closer to China which is the exact opposite of what we want to occur. They actually need Russia to be back under the umbrella of sort of a European umbrella, and not close military, economic ties to China. ”
Flynn, along with the other “anti-communists” in the Trump regime, are in the process of finding out that while Putin is not technically a communist himself, he is not anti-communist at all, he just sees it as a means to his own ends. MAGA have all fallen for a new version of the Perestroika Doctrine, a fake alliance designed to con gullible Americans into helping Russian imperialist goals.
As a final example of this long FAFO in action, Edward “Big Balls” Coristine, the 19-year-old neo-Nazi cybercriminal that Elon Musk has handed over all of our personal information to through DOGE, had a grandfather executed by the Soviets for being a double agent to the KGB, in 1987—just as Gorbachev was ramping up his “perestroika” charm offensive with Reagan, and Golytsin was warning about it. At the time, Putin was a KGB agent.
America’s failure to understand this decades-long Russian hybrid warfare attack has led us to the extinction-level event for democracy we’re currently witnessing. For whatever reason, we simply can’t fathom the long game, and instead get caught up in the ping-pong match at every election. For too long, we let gullible, corrupt men like Mike Flynn, Donald Trump, “Big Balls” and Elon Musk cooperate with our enemies because they believe that for them, it’s going to turn out great this time.
I guess we will see about that.

I read 5 articles in a row to catch up and I listened to Thiel yesterday during 3h instead of a 10/15 minutes format. Where to start:
1 - as a European, I was always shocked by the number of cults in the US. I never understood why they flourished so much and very early on. Maybe because of the lack of population density, the need to face dangers unknown in Europe. Thiel and Musk are cult leaders as they say the exact same things. Nevertheless, Thiel is not a good manipulator compared to Musk.
2 - they are all narcissists, egomaniacs but I’m starting to wonder if they’re as educated as they pretend to be: the wrong colour for the laser sabre in Star Wars may come from the fact they saw the 1st trilogy but never the 2nd. Same with LOTR: it’s in the books that the metaphors about Mordor being both nazi Germany and the Soviet Union with allies in Africa and Middle East are. In the movies, it’s one scene with elephants to represent the allies of Sauron. I’m going to rewatch the movie to be 100% sure.
I read a lot of confusion in the various articles about Flynn.
It seems to me that whilst democracy is definitely the best system for those that live within it, it is ill equipped to deal with the very long term goals of Russia or China. I think every new President brings with them a naivety in this regard. They think they’ll do better than the last lot etc etc.
After George Floyd died I remember hearing about ‘The Talk’ many black parents find it necessary to have with their children. I wonder if a similar talk should not be given to each hopeful new president.
Now listen here Mr/Mrs new President, and listen good, when dealing with other nations, particularly Russia and China, it is essential to always bear in mind that ……..
I do realise this would not work with the current president. But in future I reckon Jim should be appointed as Chief Talk Giver. He'd sort them out!
